“I’ll be there in 5 minutes” and other lies

This website I found is quite possibly the funniest thing I have seen in a while.  It is called Daily Dishonesty.  A graphic designer has been putting together these cute little prints that call us all out on the little white lies we tell our selves and others everyday.  Things like “I’m not that hungry” or “I just got your text” or “6 am yoga”.  Much to my husband’s dismay, I am going to buy one for my bathroom, because in the winter months, I find myself thinking this a lot:

Most prints are only 17.95 which ain’t bad if you ask me.  Her shop is at Society 6 and there is a ton to look through.  So if you want your daily dose of dishonesty and to learn more about this cool girl check out this sweet little site from Lauren Nicole Hom : Hom Sweet Hom.  It says she is currently seeking full-time job opportunities starting in June 2013,
yummy freelance projects, and the best brunch in NYC.  Somebody out there ought to be able to help a girl out right?  This stuff is good!

Let me google that for you…. and other awesome websites

I love browsing the internet however, the internet is a huge place. I found this huge list of useful websites and I picked out my favorites for you.

1.)  Have you ever had a friend text you and be like….”What year did the Wonder Years end?” or “How many cups are in a quart?” I mean, we all do it but honestly, sometimes I feel like my friends or clients think I am like this all the time:

Instead of having to research and get back to them, try texting this site.  Translation “Let Me Google That For You”:

2.) What about that time when you really just wanted to know “What is quinoa” or “Who is “Abraham Lincoln” and not get a mumbled jumbled mess of a million websites with info. Next time, try:

It is a mathematical site that only provides the most useful data, for more info on a topic….lmgtfy.com.

3.) If you are remodeling or moving to a new place and want to see what everything would look like before you lift a finger to move furniture… Try this instead of exhausting yourself for no reason:

It lets you do a 3D model of your home or apartment

4.) I don’t know about you but when I open a new email address and then see 20 spam emails in a row, I feel like this:

Don’t let that happen anymore! Just go to this site and get a shortened and safer link to use instead of your email address that you can share on Twitter, forums, Craigslist, etc.

5.) So, for this next one I need you to stay with me.  It is complicated and kinda tech-nerdy but there are a ZILLION uses for it. There is a website that will organize all of your online data but only in ways that you tell it to.  For example, you can set it up so that every time you take a photo in Instagram it will automatically send it to your Dropbox account.  Or every time you “star” an email in Gmail, it will copy it to Evernote.  The point is that it only does what you tell it to do so unless you want to be like Karen from mean girls….

Just go to If This Than That’s site and set it up so that you can get a text every time the weatherman says it is going to rain.

6.) How many times have we thought “I would give AT LEAST $5 for someone to…”

Well now you can put your money where your mouth is.  There is a site called Fiverr where you can find anything from a hand carved coconut monkey to getting a guy to send you a post card from wherever he is in the world  What would you pay $5 for?

7.) I have had a few people ask me about how I make my collages.  I am currently having a love affair with a certain website (don’t tell my husband)…

I fell in love with Picmonkey several months ago.  It is the only site that you can make collages, write on your images, and do editing without getting all cozy with Photoshop.  Don’t get me wrong I love Photoshop, but there are times where I want to just throw it together and call it a day.  You can use it for free or you can upgrade your package for $33 a year. This is awesome for blogging, scrapbooking, Facebooking, or just putting stuff together.  Find it here:

8.)  I thought this next one was pretty interesting, especially if you like to entertain.  There is a site that is basically Pandora for youtube.  Not only can you make a playlist of songs, its a video playlist.   If you have apple tv or can connect your computer to your TV this would be AWESOME for parties.

9.) So this next one is helpful if you want to make a pie chart or report that doesn’t look like the most boring person in your office made it…

They let you add and customize how your data is presented…for free!  Go to

10.  Last but not least, ever wanted to be James Bond?

Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could send self destructing messages online? Well, now you can.  This site will creat a message and when you send the link, it will self destruct after the message has been read….

If you need EVEN MORE that this list that I gave you, go here.  There are 101 useful websites that are pretty interesting to browse

So that happened….

Oh the Oscars! I watched them last night along with probably half of the country.  I was SO BORED! Anyone else?  Seth Mcfarlane just wasn’t doing it for me.  It was just a weird situation for him to be in, and not really the place for his type of humor.  There were parts that were just uncomfortable and would have been funny if he was doing a stand up show ABOUT the Oscars, but not so great AT the Oscars.  I mean, that whole “We saw your boobs” song?  I know that it was a joke, but minimizing the work of every woman in that room and reducing it to a prepubescent exclamation point was just disappointing.  I think he could have been funnier if he didn’t make everyone feel so awkward.

Also, WHY was Kristen Stewart there?  She looked like she had just gotten roughed up backstage! But some other highlights from the night; Meryl picked a wedgie on camera, Jennifer Lawrence tripped up the stairs, Adele NAILED it in her Skyfall performance, Babs sang, The Les Mis ensemble performance was brilliant, Renee Zellwegger was drunk on stage, The first lady announced the winner for Best Picture, there were some great things that happened last night.

But enough of all that, let’s get to the most important part, the fashion.

I Made a Casserole Y’all!

So if you read Monday’s post, you saw that I was planning on making a casserole and watching Beyonce all night on Monday night. Well the recipe I provided you was not very good or healthy looking. So when I went to make it, I made an entirely different kind of casserole. Paula Deen would be devastated at my audacity to call this a casserole, since it doesn’t have any “processed cheese product” , “butter” or “cream” anywhere in it. I swapped in quinoa instead of rice, used greek yogurt instead of cream cheese, you get the idea.

What I did make however, was a really tasty, healthy dish that is going to feed Matt and I for like a week. It is even relatively healthy with the extra protein from the quinoa and the greek yogurt. This would also be great for anyone out there with kids (since I pretty much stick to the pre-k diet, I would know) there are no onions or weird ingredients just good yummy “normal” food. Here is the recipe:

Chicken, Broccoli and Quinoa Casserole

  • 3/4 cup quinoa
  • 1 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth (if its the condensed kind then thats 3/4 cup of broth and 3/4 cup water)
  • 10 oz. can condensed Cream of Broccoli soup
  • 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded reduced fat Cheddar-Jack cheese mix, plus 1/2 cup for topping
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, cooked
  • 2 cups diced cooked chicken ( I used a whole rotisserie chicken, makes everything easier)
  • parmesan cheese and panko bread crumbs, for topping

Combine the quinoa and broth in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for 18-20 minutes, until quinoa is light and fluffy and liquid has been absorbed. Set aside to cool for a bit.
Preheat the oven to 400. Coat a casserole dish with nonstick spray.
In a large bowl, combine the soup, yogurt, milk, 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese, sugar, and spices. Stir in the cooked quinoa, broccoli, and chicken.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with the reserved shredded cheese and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and panko bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving

This is the VOICE!

Well Friends, this may be it.  Tonight I am going to karaoke with my co-workers and this could be really great or REALLY terrible (see above).  I should point out that there are ALOT of theater people at my place of work.  Many of them are members of the improv community or do shows outside of work.  Translation= they can actually sing.  Which would be really great except for the fact that I will be nowhere near their level.  Sure, after a few shots of Rumchata and a good pep talk, I might actually THINK in my head, that I actually sound exactly like Whitney Houston, but in reality, I do not sound anything like Whitney Houston. So I have compiled a list of songs that I think would be good for ME and possibly a group of other people to sing:

1.) Call me Maybe– Carly Rae Jensen.

2.) Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

3.) ABC- Jackson 5

4.) PYT– Michael Jackson

5.) I Wanna Dance With Somebody– Whitney Houston

6.)Rolling in the Deep– Adele

7.)Mercy – Duffy

8.)I will survive– Gloria Gaynor

9.) Respect – Aretha Franklin

10.) I’m Just a Girl – No Doubt

11.) Rehab – Amy Winehouse

12.) The Way you Make Me Feel– Michael Jackson

13.) Friends In Low Places– Garth Brooks

14.) Tainted Love – Soft Cell

15.) Before He Cheats – Carrie Underwood

What are your favorite Karaoke songs?
